Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal data across Skill Passport.
Last updated: 23 September 2026
1. Who we are
Skill Passport is a skill identity and employability platform that helps people prove their skills, and helps employers, institutions and training partners verify them. This policy explains how we handle personal data across our website, products and APIs.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "Skill Passport" refer to the company operating skillpassport.io and its related applications.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the platform and improve it.
- Account details you give us, such as name, mobile number, email address and password or one time codes used to sign in.
- Profile and credential data you add, such as education, work experience, skills, certificates, assessments and career goals.
- Verification data shared by employers, institutions, training partners and assessment providers you authorise.
- Enquiries and messages you send through our contact and partnership forms.
- Usage and device data such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, browser type and referring links.
- Campaign data such as UTM parameters that tell us which channel brought you to the site.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data for the following purposes.
- Creating and securing your account and verifying your identity.
- Building your skill profile and matching you with relevant opportunities.
- Allowing you to share a verified profile with recruiters and partners you choose.
- Responding to enquiries, providing support and sending service updates.
- Detecting fraud, spam and misuse, including bot protection on our forms.
- Measuring how the platform is used so we can improve features and content.
4. Legal basis and consent
We process personal data with your consent, to perform the service you asked for, to meet legal obligations, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe and useful. You can withdraw consent at any time, though some features may stop working if you do.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in the situations below.
- With employers, institutions or partners when you choose to share your profile or apply for an opportunity.
- With service providers who host our infrastructure, send messages, or protect our forms from abuse, under contract and only for the purpose we specify.
- With authorities when required by law, court order or a valid legal request.
- With a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition or restructuring, with notice to you.
6. Verification and blockchain records
When a credential is verified, we may anchor a tamper evident record so it can be checked later. These records hold cryptographic proofs, not your personal documents. Your underlying documents and profile data remain in our protected systems and are never written to a public ledger.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect forms from automated abuse, and understand how visitors reach and use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but parts of the platform may not work as intended.
8. Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal and reporting requirements. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, activity logging and regular reviews to protect your data. No system can be guaranteed fully secure, so we also ask you to protect your login credentials and tell us quickly about any suspicious activity.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you can ask us to do the following.
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your account and associated personal data.
- Withdraw consent or object to certain processing.
- Receive your profile data in a portable format.
11. Children
Skill Passport is not intended for children under the age of 16. If a parent or guardian believes a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves or as the law changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and material changes will be notified to registered users.
13. Contact us
For any privacy question, request or complaint, write to us at hello@skillpassport.io and we will respond within a reasonable time.
